2011-12 CRS President’s Welcome Letter
In my new role as President, I welcome all of you to the 2011-2012 season of the Chicago Radiological Society (CRS). Program director Dr. Joy Sclamberg, Resident Fellow Section (RFS) program director Dr. Ankur Patel, and Radiation Oncology Committee chair Jonathan Strauss, have been industriously engaged over the summer procuring acclaimed and influential speakers to create an invigorating educational program, highlighted by a popular resident scientific poster session in February 2012. Please click to see meeting dates and further details.
My gratitude goes to all who labor with dedication to make the activities of the society possible, but in particular, to the residents of the RFS who comprise the core of the educational meetings. This summer, RFS members have introduced several new initiatives. RFS Vice-president Dr. Dan Jeong created and monitors a new CRS RFS group on Facebook. RFS President Dr. Patrick Alore has improved and codified the operating procedures of the RFS. RFS member and Radiation Oncology Representative to the American College of Radiology (ACR), RFS Executive Committee Dr. Tracy Bray, organized CRS members to volunteer for half a day at the Chicago Park District as part of the ACR RFS Heart of Radiology community service campaign.
It is a singular privilege for me to take the helm of this distinguished society not only from my esteemed immediate predecessor, Dr. Davide Bova, but also from four generations of leadership that extend back to the founding of the society nearly one hundred years ago in 1913. The society was, and to this day still is, fortunate to be the beneficiary of the visionary guidance and continuous stewardship of these custodians of its mission. Over the course of the last century, the role of the CRS has evolved, but the society remains committed to its purpose of advancing education, service and advocacy in the radiological sciences. I invite you to join us in 2013 to celebrate the centennial of the CRS.
More details about the education program and all of the activities above can be accessed at the CRS web site, which has just undergone a redesign. I entreat you to peruse the updated, easier-to-navigate web site soon.
With genial anticipation, I look forward to seeing you at our meetings this year!
