Meeting Minutes

April 15, 2004 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Dr. Michael Racenstein, Dr. Abraham Dachman, Dr. Alex Nemeth, Dr. Edward Melian, Dr. Kate Feinstein, Dr. Aruna Vade, Dr. Jay Korach, Dr. Ellen Mendelson, Dr. Gary Dillehay, Dr. Carl Kalbhen, Dr. Margaret Stull, Dr. Ruth Ramsey.

The meeting was called to order at 4:13 PM at The 500 Club at Rush Presbyterian Hospital.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the March 20, 2004 meeting were approved.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Dr. Racenstein reviewed his year at the helm of the Radiological Society thanking the committee for its contributions and the success in the discussions with BC/BS. A committee of Drs. Racenstein, Mendelson, and Mintzer traveled to the local BC/BS headquarters and after reviewing with their executives the data on digital mammography, BC/BS has reconsidered their position. Digital mammography will continue to be reimbursed at the rate of analog mammography.

NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT:
The elections results for next year have been reported as follows: Executive Committee: Davide Bova for first year trustee, Drs. Ellen Mendelson and Ed Michals for second year trustees, Drs. Margaret Stull and John Hibbeln for third year trustees, Dr. Jay Korach for fourth year trustee, Dr. Karl Carl Kalbhen for Secretary Treasurer, Dr. Abraham Dachman for Program Chairman and President Elect and Dr. Edward Melian for President.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT:
Dr. Dachman reviewed the speakers for the next year 3 of the six speakers are set. Dr. Bruce Hillman will be the first speaker and will be sponsored by the ACR.

ILLINOIS RADIOLOGICAL SOCIETY REPORT:
Dr. Ramsey reported the College meeting will again be held in the spring in Washington D.C. May 8 –13th. The dinner for the new College fellowship recipients will be on Monday at Kincade’s Restaurant. On Tuesday night the “ Gala Dinner with live entertainment from the “ Capitol Steps” will be held for all ACR attendees.

GOLF OUTING REPORT: The Golf outing will be held on June 21st at Highland Park Country Club the flyers have been sent.

RESIDENT SECTION REPORT:
The resident section elections results were reported by Dr. Nemeth as follows:

• President Nandita Guha-Thakuta MD CCH, vice president
• Steve Zangan MD U of C, Program Director
• Gretchen Kirwan MD RUSH, secretary treasurer
• Dr. Prabhu Velan RUSH

SECRETARY/TREASURER REPORT:
The financial reports of March 2004 were reviewed and met with approval from the group. The Society’s assets are approximately stable.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:17 PM.

Prior to dinner Dr. Racenstein thanked the Society for his year as president. Dinner was served to 90 people. After dinner Dr. Dachman introduced Dr. BJ Manaster who then gave the evening’s educational lecture on hip and pelvic imaging.
