Meeting Minutes

April 19, 2001 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Anderson, Berlin, Bertino, Cavallino, Dachman, Dillehay, Feinstein, Grant, Kalbhen, Lasky, Melian, Mintzer, Moss, Pinsky, Bahu, Racenstein, Ramsey, Smoron, Ward, Vade, Vyborny

The meeting was called to order at 4:10 p.m. in the Council Room of the Standard Club.

Secretary/Treasurer Report

The minutes of the March 15, 2001 meeting were approved as submitted. The financial reports of March 1-March 31, 2001 were reviewed. Income and expense items were as expected.

Program Committee Report

The Program Committee has lined up the speakers for the next session's program. Dr. Harvey Neiman will be presented with the Memorial Award.

Vendor Support Ad Hoc Committee

Vendor support is being investigated for two CRS meetings for the next session.

Golf Outing

This years golf outing is scheduled for June 28th at the Marriott Lincolnshire Resort.

Illinois Radiological Society Report

• IRS has allocated money for the purchase of one LCD projector for CRS.

• IRS is considering ways to maintain the current membership and encourage new membership.

• A committee consisting of Drs. Berlin, Bertino and Feinstein was approved to explore the possibility of holding a scientific meeting in the year 2001.

Fellowship Committee Report

Dr. Smoron announced that Dr. Joan Parrato's application will be forwarded by IRS to the ACR for final consideration.

Resident Section Report

Dr. Bahu reported that Dr. Caryl Salomon will speak on "Ultrasound of Abnormal Uterine Bleeding" this afternoon.

New Officers: President: Amira M. Bahu, M.D.; Vice President: Prashant Chawla, M.D.; Secretary: Jamie Steinberg, M.D.; Resident Section Program Director: Alexander Nemeth, M.D.

ACR

Dr. Mintzer announced that ACR is actively looking for people to run for various offices: president, vice president, council vice president, council steering committee and nominating committee.

ACR is revamping certain standards for imaging procedures.

Medicare Fee Advisory Report

Dr. Anderson reported that as of July 1, 2001, all Medicare bills must have zip code of place of service to be paid. Requests for review of Medicare denials have become more complicated. Medicare is sharing details with billing companies.

Old Business

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Dr. William Schey at the April meeting. Dr. Steve Pinsky introduced the honoree.

Dr. Kalbhen will investigate the cost for updating the CRS web page.

New Business

Having no further business, the Executive Committee adjourned at 5:00 p.m.

Dinner was served to 87 people. While dessert was being served, Dr. Ward conducted a brief business meeting. She then introduced Dr. Steven Smith, who introduced Dr. James B. Spies, who gave the lecture "Uterine Fibroid Embolization."
