Meeting Minutes
March 16, 2006 Executive Committee
Meeting
Present: Dr. Abraham Dachman, Dr. Carl Kalbhen, Dr.
Ellen Mendelson, Dr. Leonard Berlin, Dr. Gary Dillehay, Dr. Kate Feinstein,
Dr. Ruth Ramsey, Dr. Aruna Vade, Dr. Kathleen Ward, Dr. William Small
and Mr. Merle Hedland.
The meeting was called to order at 1:25 PM at The Feinberg Pavilion of
Northwestern University Medical Center.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the February 16, 2006 meeting were approved after minor
revisions.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Dr. Dachman addressed the Executive Committee for the final time as President,
as he will not be able to attend the April 2006 meeting. For the current
combined IRS/CRS/CIRS meeting, approximately 120 people have pre-registered.
Given this and expected additional on-site registrants, the combined meeting
is expected to be successful from an attendance perspective.
PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT:
Dr. Dachman gave the report in Dr. Korach’s absence. Dr. Dachman
was pleased at how the new CRS meeting format was received when implemented
in February. Dr. Feinstein, who presented cases at the first new Boards
Review session, thought that resident attendance and interest were encouraging.
The plan is for this session to continue at the April meeting and likely
during the 2006-07 CRS season as well. Tentative plans for another combined
IRS/CRS/CIRS meeting to be held in March 2007 were discussed. The likely
topic will be Emergency Radiology. As Northwestern will not be available
on the third Thursday of March 2007, the possibility of holding the combined
meeting on the Friday and Saturday of that week was discussed. Given the
encouraging registration numbers for the current meeting, attempts to
get greater sponsorship for 2007 will be made.
SECRETARY/TREASURER’S REPORT:
Dr. Kalbhen gave the Financial Report for February; revenue and expense
items were as expected, with the Society’s finances remaining strong.
He also requested and received approval from the Executive Committee to
send out written invitations to past Distinguished Service Award winners
for Dr. Moss’s Gold Medal reception in April. Dr. Kalbhen also presented
Dr. Dachman with a plaque recognizing him for his hard work and strong
leadership as CRS President this season.
FELLOWSHIP REPORT:
Dr. Dillehay reported that only one Illinois radiologist had applied for
Fellowship this year, and that his application was deferred. No Illinois
radiologists will become ACR Fellows at the May meeting in Washington,
DC.
ILLINOIS RADIOGICAL SOCIETY REPORT:
This was tabled, as a formal report will be given by Dr. Stevens tomorrow
at the IRS luncheon meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Dr. Feinstein brought up the possibility of the CRS offering Self-Assessment
Modules (SAMs) as well as CME at future meetings. This may encourage attendance,
as the completion of SAMs is part of the ABR recertification requirements.
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:00 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Carl Kalbhen, MD
Secretary/Treasurer
