Meeting Minutes

Feb. 21, 2002 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Anderson, Dachman, Dillehay, Feinstein, Kalbhen, Melian, Bahu, Racenstein, Ramsey, Stull and Vyborny

The meeting was called to order by Dr. Vyborny at 4:15 P.M. in the Council Room of the Standard Club.

Secretary/Treasurer Report

The minutes of the Jan. 17, 2002 meeting were approved as submitted. The financial reports of Jan. 1-Jan. 31, 2002 were reviewed. Income and expense items were as expected.

Resident Section Report

Dr. Bahu reported that Dr. Amjad Ali will speak this afternoon on PET Imaging. The next month's speaker will be Tamar Ben-Ami, M.D. who will speak on "Pediatric Chest Sonography: How? Why? When?"

Program Committee Report

The main speaker for the March 21 meeting will be Edward Hendrick, Ph.D. who will speak on "Update on Digital Mammography". The dates for the 2002-2003 meetings will be as follows: Oct. 17, 2002; Nov. 21, 2002; Jan. 16, 2003; Feb. 20, 2003; March 20, 2003; and April 17, 2003.

Vendor Support Ad Hoc Committee

Roche Pharmaceuticals will be sponsoring the radiation oncology speaker for the upcoming March 21, 2002 CRS meeting.

Nominating Committee Report

The Nominating Committee reported the slate for the 2002-2003 CRS Executive Committee: Dr. Aruna Vade for President, Dr. Michael Racenstein for President-Elect/Program Chairman, Dr. Edward Melian for Vice President/ Secretary-Treasurer and Drs. John F. Hibbelen and Ellen B. Mendelson for new Trustees. Elections will be held at the April meeting.

Standard Club Contract Review

The Executive Committee recommended to explore other options besides the Standard Club for 2003-2004 CRS meetings site.

Illinois Radiological Society Report

Dr. Ramsey reported that Dr. Charles E. Mueller a member of the ACR Council Steering Committee assigned to Illinois will address the audience at the April 2002 CRS meeting.

The first annual meeting of the Illinois Radiological Society will be from May 18-19, 2002, at the Westin River North, Chicago, Illinois.

Fellowship Committee Report

Dr. Smoron reported that Dr. Kate Feinstein will be granted ACR fellowship at the upcoming annual meeting of the ACR.

Medicare Fee Advisory Report

Dr. Anderson reported that mammography digital accreditation program should be in annotation with regular analog mammography unit.

New Business

Bacon & Hedland will be submitting a proposal regarding assistance with secretarial service for the CRS.

Having no further business, the Executive Committee adjourned at 4:52 PM.

Dinner was served to 72 people. While desert was being served, Dr. Vyborny conducted a brief business meeting. Dr. Stull then introduced Dr. Javier Beltran who gave the lecture "MRI of the Foot and Ankle: Tendon and Ligamentous Injuries."
