Meeting MinutesJanuary 18, 2001 Executive Committee MeetingPresent: Anderson, Berlin, Dachman, Feinstein, Kalbhen, Mintzer, Moss, Racenstein, Ramsey, Vade, Vijayakumar, Vyborny, Ward The meeting was called to order by Dr. Ward at 4:05 p.m. in the Council Room of the Standard Club. Secretary/TreasurerThe minutes of the November 16, 2000 meeting were approved as submitted. The financial reports of November 1-December 31, 2000 were reviewed. Income and expense items were as expected. Program CommitteeThe program for next season is already being planned. Tentative speakers include Dr. Mary Jensen who will speak at the November 2001 CRS meeting on the topic of vertebroplasty, and Dr. Etta Pisano who will speak on digital mammography at the March 2002 CRS meeting. The membership poll on meeting format showed preference for the present format; i.e., dinner before the main speaker. The executive committee may try an occasional change in the meeting format next year. The radiology section of the CMS 2001 Midwest Clinical Conference annual meeting will be held on Sunday, February 25th, from 8 a.m.-11:30 a.m. The topic is "Interventional Radiology." Dr. Vyborny reported that Congress has passed and President Clinton has signed into law a bill (H.R. 1795) that authorizes formation of a National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering. The cosponsors of this bill from the Illinois congressional delegation were: Congressman William O. Lipinski, Congressman Luis V. Gutierrez, Congressman Rod R. Blagojevich, Congressman Danny K. Davis, Congresswoman Janice D. Schakowsky, Congressman Ray LaHood and Congressman Bobby L. Rush. Vendor Support Adhoc CommitteeDr. Vyborny is continuing to contact vendors to underwrite upcoming CRS meetings. Illinois Radiological SocietyThe joint meeting of IRS and CRS will be held on April 19, 2001. IRS management has been contracted to RSNA for one year beginning January 2001. Fellowship CommitteeDr. Smoron has requested that all completed applications for ACR fellowship be submitted to IRS as soon as possible. Radiologic Technology Accreditation Advisory BoardThere are no critical legislatures pending for radiology technology accreditation. ACRAccreditation program for chest and general radiology is being discussed and is close to completion. Renewal of CAQ's in Radiology will be available in 2004. Nominating CommitteeThe Nominating Committee will report the 2001-2002 slate at the March meeting. New BusinessDr. Lasky has graciously donated a view box for the mammography breakout session. Electronic mailing of CRS activities and updating the current CRS Web site was discussed. Old BusinessDr. Bill Schey will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award at the April 19, 2001 CRS meeting. Dr. Steve Pinsky will present the medal. Underwriting for the purchase of an LCD projector is being investigated. Respectfully submitted, Aruna Vade, M.D., FACR Dinner was served to 66 people. Prior to dinner Dr. Ward conducted a brief business meeting. She then introduced Dr. Thomas Lawson, who introduced Dr. Dennis Foley.
