Meeting Minutes

Nov. 13, 2003 Executive Committee Meeting

Present: Dr. Michael Racenstein, Dr. Edward Melian, Dr. Abraham Dachman, Dr. Alex Nemeth, Dr. Kate Feinstein, Dr. Carl Kalbhen, Dr. Margaret Stull, Dr. Gary Dillehay, Dr. Thomas Anderson, Dr. Ruth Ramsey, Dr. Edward Michaels.

The meeting was called to order at 4:17 pm at The 500 Club at Rush Presbyterian Hospital.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the October 17, 2003 meeting were approved.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT:
Dr. Racenstein was informed of the proceedings of the previous meeting by the group. Dr. Valerie Jackson’s honorary certificates and Grube Award were signed and will be mailed to her.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT:
Dr. Dachman reviewed tonight’s speakers. He is beginning to finalize the list of speakers for next season’s meetings as well. A five year guideline has been proposed by Dr. Berlin in absentia for when speakers may be reinvited to lecture.

GOLF OUTING REPORT:
A late sponsorship check has arrived for the golf outing and once the collections are complete it appears the outing will be less in debt than originally expected. The consensus of the group was to continue the golf outing. A change in venue has been proposed but is not yet finalized.

MIDWEST CLINICAL CONFERENCE:
Chicago Medical Society is going to run a specialty conference for which Dr. Dachman has pulled together a small group of diagnostic radiology speakers. The conference will be on March 25-27th at the Holiday Inn at the Merchandise Mart, 350 N. Orleans St. The radiology speakers will be on March 26th.

SPONSORS:
Separate levels of sponsorship were determined ranging from minimal section only sponsor to full meeting sponsorship.

RESIDENT SECTION REPORT:
The resident section has procured a sponsor at the minimum level for tonight’s presentation. They will be recognized at the resident section.

SECRETARY/TREASURER REPORT:
The financial reports of October 2003 were reviewed and met with approval from the group. The Society’s assets are slightly ahead of last years.

NEW BUSINESS:
There was no further new business.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:13 pm.

Dr. Racenstein addressed the group with much contrition for his absence last month. Dinner was served to approximately 96 people. Following dinner Dr. Abe Dachman introduced Dr. Richard Baron, MD chairperson of Radiology at University of Chicago who gave a comprehensive talk on the imaging of hepatic cirrhosis.
