Oct. 19 , 2006 Executive
Committee Meeting
Present: Dr. Carl Kalbhen, Dr. John Hibbeln, Dr. Edward
Michals, Dr. Abraham Dachman, Dr. Lim-Dunham, Dr. Jay Korach, Dr. Gretchen
Conroy, Dr. Mustafa Bashir, Dr. Kate Feinstein, Dr. Richard Mintzer,
Dr. Micheal Racenstein, Dr. Ruth Ramsey and Mr. Merle Hedland.
The meeting was called to order at 4:15 PM at The 500 Club of Rush University
Medical Center.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
The minutes from the April 20, 2006 meeting were approved.
RESIDENT
AND FELLOW SECTION REPORT:
Dr. Bashir stated Dr. Margaret Stull from the University of Illinois
will be showing musculoskeletal board review cases at tonight’s
Resident Section Breakout Session. Following on-line discussion and agreement
by the board members over the summer, cash prizes will be awarded to
participating residents who correctly identify the greatest number of
unknown cases presented at the review. It is hoped that this will stimulate
greater attendance and interest in the board review program.
PRESIDENT’S
REPORT:
Dr. Kalbhen announced that Len Bok, MD has relocated from Chicago and,
that with regret, Dr. Bok has tendered his resignation as a trustee.
A discussion ensued concerning potential replacements. The formation
of the Nominating and Distinguished Service Award Committees was announced
with the committee membership as defined in the by-laws.
SECRETARY/TREASURER’S
REPORT:
Dr. Hibbeln gave the Financial Report for October, 2006; revenue and
expense items were as expected, with the Society’s finances remaining
strong. Because of the continued strength of the Society’s assets,
it was decided not to change the individual meal and season ticket prices
for the upcoming 2006-07 CRS season.
PROGRAM COMMITTEE REPORT:
Dr. Korach reported that the January speaker, Sherry Teefey, MD, will
not be able to deliver her lecture. A substitute is being sought.
FELLOWSHIP COMMITTEE REPORT:
In the absence of Dr. Dilihey, Dr. Kalbhen announced
the new ACR Fellows for Illinois for
2007. They are Drs. Kuhn, Nemcek and Stevens.
ILLINOIS RADIOGICAL SOCIETY REPORT:
Dr. Mintzer, the Program Director for the March 2007 combined
IRS/CRS/CIRS Educational Symposium lead a discussion concerning planning
for the meeting. Speakers and topics were reviewed as well as the format
for the meeting. Issues discussed also included admission charges for
the meeting and scheduling the presentation of the Pinsky Award.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Over the summer following on-line discussion with the board, Dr. Kalbhen
and Dr. Hibbeln applied for CME sponsorship for the CRS educational activities
by Rush University. Up to two hours of CME per session will be available,
one for the breakout sub-specialty session and one hour for the main
speaker. A total of 10 hours of credit are planned to be available for
this year. The certificate is to be issued at the end of the year. Dr.
Hibbeln has volunteered to be the CME course director. The costs for
the CME program include a $1,000 application fee and $25.00 processing
fee for each person requesting a certificate to be paid to Rush. Additionally,
10% of all unrestricted educational grants used for CME sponsored programs
must be remitted to the CME sponsoring organization. The board voted
to approve CME sponsorship by Rush University Medical Center for the
year.
NEW BUSINESS:
Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 5:20
PM.
